Early Bird Tuition Request forms for the Spring 2024 semester have been sent out with the students today! If you would like to receive the early bird discount, the forms must be submitted by Monday, Oct 30.
2024년 봄학기 얼리버드 등록금 신청서가 오늘 학생들에게 배부되었습니다! 얼리버드 할인을 받으시려면 2023년 10월 30일 월요일까지 신청서를 반드시 제출하셔야 합니다.

Our 2023 Annual Charity Marathon is coming up next Saturday, October 21!
2023년 연례 자선 마라톤이 다음 주 토요일, 10월 21일에 열립니다!
Info packets and pledge sheets were given out to students today. Please refer to it for more information! The event will be from 10 AM to 1 PM in front of CGV in Times Space!

As a reminder, this year’s organization that JICS will be raising money for and donating to will be ChildFund Korea! This charity has been helping children suffering from poverty and disease for 75 years. They also work with child rights advocacy programs and wish for all the children in the world to be happy. Let’s do this Lions!!!
이번 자선 마라톤을 통하여 모금된 금액을 JICS가 기부할 단체는 초록우산 재단입니다! 초록우산 재단은 75년간 어린이들의 건강과 가난을 해결하기 위해 노력하는 단체입니다. 또한 아동 인권 프로그램들을 통하여 세상의 모든 어린이들이 행복한 세상을 위해 노력하고 있습니다. Let’s do this Lions!!!
Parent-Teacher Conference
학부모 간담회
Parent Teacher Conference (PTC) time slot sign ups will go out next Monday, Oct 16! This will be a time for parents to have an opportunity to sit down 1:1 with their child’s homeroom teacher to discuss how he/she is doing in his/her academics and school life.
학부모 상담회 신청서가 다음주 월요일 (10월 16일)에 발송될 예정입니다! 이 시간은 학생의 담임 선생님과 학부모님이 1 대 1로 학생의 학교 생활에 대해 대화를 나눌 수 있는 시간입니다.

As a reminder, here are some guidelines to follow for costumes:
따라야할 규칙:
No scary, violent, bloody, or horror-related costumes allowed (*including costumes related to Squid Game)
No costumes that imply evil, haunted, death
Refrain from dressing up as a “villain”
No Satan, Devil, or ghost-related behavior or costumes
No pranks that hurt others or themselves
무섭거나, 폭력적이거나, 유혈이 낭자하거나, 공포와 관련된 의상은 허용되지 않습니다 (* 오징어게임은 이 규칙에 포함되어 있습니다. )
악,죽음을 암시하는 의상 금지
의상의 일부로 무기를 사용할 수 없습니다
'악당' 복장 자제
사탄, 악마 또는 유령과 관련된 행동이나 의상 금지

Some examples for student costumes: Super Mario, Barbie & Ken, Board Games, etc.

October Challenge
10월 챌린지
This month’s initiative pushes students to build literacy, positivity, and good character! To learn this, students will guess teachers to their favorite books by asking them questions which aims to show more interest in different genres of books. There will also be an “Appreciation Tree” where students are encouraged to write an appreciation note to any of the JICS staff (including bus drivers, the cook, the janitor, etc.).
이번달의 도전은 학생들의 문학력과 긍정적이고 좋은 인품을 기르는 것입니다! 이를 위하여 학생들은 선생님들께서 가장 좋아하는 책을 맞추며, 해당 책에 대한 질문을 통해 다양한 장르의 책에 관심을 이끌어내고 있습니다. 또한 “감사함 나무”가 설치되어 학생들이 JICS에서 일하는 분들께(버스 기사님, 쉐프님, 청소 여사님 등) 감사한 마음이 담긴 노트를 작성할 것 입니다.

National Speech Competition
전국 스피치 대회
The Korean National Speech Competition as spots are quickly filling up! This event is optional and non-JICS affiliated. However, JICS students have taken part [and have received many awards] since our participation.
다가오는 전국 스피치 대회 자리가 이번에는 빠르게 채워지고 있습니다! 이 행사는 선택사항이며 JICS 연계 행사가 아니지만 시작부터 JICS 학생들이 참여하고 많은 상도 받아왔습니다.
The competition will be conducted at Sangmyung University this year. This is an independent event by the National Speech Organization so transportation will not be provided by JICS.
올해 대회는 상명대학교에서 진행되ㅂ니다. 이 행사는 전국 스피치대회 기관에서 주최하는 행사이므로 JICS에서 교통수단을 제공하지 않습니다.
Dates: Nov 25-26 and Dec 2-23 (Nov dates are filled up)
Specific times for each students will be announced the week of the competition
Cost: 130,000 won
Location: Art Center, Sangmyung University Jongno-gu, Seoul

IGC Music Concert
인천글로벌캠퍼스 음악 콘서트
The University of Utah (IGC) and Black Stone Records Label have come together to put on a music concert on Saturday, Nov 4 at the IGC auditorium. This event will feature music performances, in which our JICS Zumba Team and JICS Dance Team were invited to perform! The event itself will run from 11 AM to 8 PM and student performances will be from 1 PM - 1:15 PM.
IGC의 유타 대학교와 블랙 스톤 레이블이 11월 4일 오전 11시부터 저녁 8시까지 IGC 강당에서 음악 콘서트를 개최합니다. 특별히 이번 콘서트에서 우리 JICS 줌바팀과 댄스팀이 초청을 받아 공연을 합니다! 콘서트 전체는 오전 11시부터 저녁 8시까지 진행이 되고, 우리 학생들의 공연은 오후 1시부터 1시 15분에 진행됩니다.

Fall 2023 Midterms
가을학기 중간고사
Students in 4th grade and up have Fall Semester Midterm Exams coming up on November 2-3 and November 6-8! Teachers will begin reviewing materials for the exams soon, so please help encourage your students to study hard for their tests!
4학년부터 학생들은 11월 2~3일 그리고 6~8일에 가을학기 중간고사를 치룰 것 입니다! 선생님들께서 곧 시험 준비를 위한 복습 자료들을 준비해주실 것이니, 학생들이 시험을 잘 치룰 수 있게 격려와 응원해 주세요!
1-3rd grade students will not have midterms but will have cumulative review tests or chapter tests.
1~3학년 학생들은 중간 고사가 없으나 학기 중 지속적으로 리뷰 시험들과 단원 시험이 있습니다.
SUNY Korea Math Competition
한국뉴욕주립대학교 수학경시대회
On Saturday, November 11th, SUNY Korea is hosting the AMS Math Competition for high school students. Competition Levels include Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, and Probability (excluding Calculus). Registration is free until November 5th.
뉴욕 주립대가 주최하는 AMS 고등학생 수학 경시대회가 11월 11일 토요일날 개최됩니다. 시험 범위는 대수학, 삼각함수, 기하학, 확률 (미적분 제외) 이며 11월 5일까지 참가비는 무료입니다.
